NEWNet Conferences

About

What's in it

The NIGHTS conference takes place in the world’s most attractive nightlife cities. The success of nightlife culture comes with its own set of challenges, for example the coexistence of nightlife cultures and residents, or the risky behavior of party goers related to their consumption of alcohol, drugs and sexual activities. There have been many interesting responses to this new set of circumstances which address the problems and needs relating to nightlife activities.

The culture, music and nightlife-regulations may be different, but the challenges are similar for all cities of the world, which is reason enough to promote an attractive and sustainable nightlife culture on an international level.

In an attempt to be inclusive to the whole complexity of the Night, the NIGHTS 2 conference program pays attention to the topics of health and safety, night time economy, culture and urban development.

Belgium has a very diverse and rich nightlife culture. It is famous for its world class festivals, its amazing club scene, and its wide variety of bars and restaurants. Brussels, being the home of many international organisations and EU institutions, is hosting an ever growing number of citizens and tourists. The City/Region is increasingly becoming cosmopolitan, and its nightlife is evolving accordingly.

Reason enough to bring the NIGHTS conference to Brussels. Inviting Researchers, nightlife experts, EU networkers, public institutions professionals, politicians, city managers, street workers and visionary project developers to share their expertise, specific knowledge, theories and good practice to exchange on the future of nightlife. The cross-sectoral discussions and perspectives will also lead to an excellent opportunity for interdisciplinary networking on a European scale. And, of course, you will have plenty of opportunities to discover the city and the diversity of its nightlife offer.
